Project Description
This renovation of an existing office building in Brooklyn Heights includes re-cladding the entire structure to house luxury rental apartments. A lightweight terra cotta skin allows for the maximum area of a vertical enlargement while not requiring structural reinforcement which would disrupt an existing ground-floor commercial tenant.
The new façade features stainless steel and aluminum balconies, windows and details, broken down in rhythmic and regular textures to give scale and shadow to the long western façade. Access is provided to a common roof terrace with commanding views of New York Harbor.
